Diglo (Santander): what it is and how to buy its repossessed homes

If you've been looking for Santander bank repossessions recently, you may have come across a new name: Diglo. Until recently, the go-to name for Santander's assets was Altamira; now this servicer has entered the scene, and lots of people search Google for "what is Diglo" or "which bank owns Diglo" without being sure of the answer. Here's the answer: Diglo is Banco Santander's own servicer, set up by the bank to manage its repossessed properties and its loan portfolio in-house. Below I explain what it manages, how its portal works and how to make the most of it.

What Diglo is and which bank owns it

Diglo is the property and credit management platform driven by Banco Santander. Unlike the classic servicers — outside companies to which the bank subcontracts the management — Diglo was born as a structure linked to Santander itself to handle in-house the marketing of its repossessed assets (homes, commercial premises, land) and the management of loans. Its official portal is digloservicer.com.

In practice, for a buyer this means that properties you could previously see under Altamira's management for Santander may now be marketed through Diglo. The buying process is the usual one in the sector: you search its portal, register your interest, request a viewing, negotiate and close.

Why Santander created Diglo (and what happened next)

For years Santander outsourced the management of its repossessed portfolio to Altamira, which it created in 2013 and gradually sold off until it exited completely in 2023 (today Altamira is 100% owned by the doValue group). Diglo was born in 2022 with the opposite logic: bringing the marketing in-house to control prices, sales strategy and the relationship with the buyer. In 2023 the bank went as far as negotiating the sale of Diglo to doValue, and in November of that year it ruled it out; instead of selling, it strengthened the servicer with new executives.

The decisive step came on 8 April 2026: Santander signed an agreement with Diglo for it to handle the sale of the bank's repossessed properties and most of its portfolio of non-performing loans. Since then Diglo has been the main channel for Santander's homes. Altamira hasn't disappeared: it still sells a historic portfolio originating from Santander and assets from other clients, and Aliseda sells the Banco Popular legacy. But what's new comes in through Diglo.

What assets Diglo manages

Diglo's portfolio includes the usual types of asset for a bank servicer:

  • Residential homes (flats, detached and terraced houses) from mortgage repossessions.
  • Commercial property: retail premises, offices and industrial units.
  • Urban land and land zoned for development.
  • Loan portfolios (these are for institutional investors, not for the private homebuyer).

As Santander is the bank with the largest market share in Spain, its portfolio is spread widely across the country, with a notable presence in the north (Cantabria, Castilla y León, Galicia, Asturias) and in the big cities.

How to search Diglo's portal

On digloservicer.com you can filter by asset type, province, price and features. As with the other servicers, the most useful thing is to set up a search profile with your criteria and switch on the email alerts: the best assets sell within days or weeks, and the alert lets you know so you don't have to check the portal every day.

A practical tip that applies to all servicers, Diglo included: the portal's photos tend to be basic and are sometimes out of date. Never commit without requesting a viewing (if the property is vacant) and without asking for the Nota Simple (the extract from the Land Registry) to check its charges, encumbrances and legal status.

Diglo, Altamira and Aliseda: where to look for what

  • Diglo: a wholly owned subsidiary of Santander and, since April 2026, responsible for selling the bank's repossessions. It's where the new stock comes in.
  • Altamira: doValue's servicer, with a historic portfolio originating from Santander; strong in Castilla y León, Cantabria and Galicia.
  • Aliseda: the portfolio that came from Banco Popular, now owned by Blackstone (Anticipa-Aliseda). On RadarPro it is the largest of the three.

They're not mutually exclusive: each one may have properties the others don't. On RadarPro you have them all together, with the discount on the market price worked out for each one.

Financing for Diglo assets

As with the other servicers linked to a big bank, buying a Diglo asset can give you access to preferential mortgage terms through Santander. For a main residence it's common to be able to get financing of up to 100% of the purchase price; for an investment, the terms are the market standard (around 80% of the lower of the appraised value and the price). As always, compare the bank's offer with other lenders before signing: having the option doesn't automatically make it the best one.

Frequently asked questions about Diglo

Which bank does Diglo belong to?
Banco Santander. It's the bank's own servicer for managing and selling repossessed properties and loans.

Is Diglo replacing Altamira?
For Santander's new repossessions, yes: since April 2026 the sale has been handled by Diglo. Altamira still markets the historic portfolio and Aliseda the Popular one. To make sure you don't miss anything, check all three.

Can I buy a Santander property directly at a branch?
No. Santander's repossessed assets are marketed through Diglo (and the historic portfolio through Altamira and Aliseda), not at the branch. The purchase is closed with the servicer, even if you arrange the preferential mortgage with Santander.

Are Diglo's prices negotiable?
The published prices are a guide and, especially on assets that have been in the portfolio for a while, there's room to negotiate. Submit a documented offer with market comparables, the cost of refurbishment and any issue you've spotted.
